Our Story
Green Gravity is enabling the global renewable energy transition through developing the next generation of ultra-green energy storage technology.
Why we’re here
At Green Gravity, we develop, install and operate cutting edge gravitational energy storage systems. We aim to become the world's lowest cost and most sustainable provider of energy storage technology. Through our focus on the circular economy, we can lead the world in creating the future of energy from the legacy of mining.
We support policy settings which encourage sustainable decarbonisation and the attainment of net zero global emissions by 2050. Through our investments and research, we contribute to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Green Gravity, our stakeholders, customers and employees have a shared passion to combat climate change through economic development of innovative energy storage technology. We unlock an enormous opportunity to work together across the natural resources and energy sectors with the nature of our technology. Given the scale of these sectors, success can radically accelerate the world's renewable transition.
Green Gravity is committed to promoting access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. We aim to be instrumental in achieving the global goal of universal access by 2030.
What we value
Sustainability
Our team “gets it”, we don’t engage in politics and everyone in our team is passionate about our vision.
Leadership
We have a bias to action, are highly productive, delivery focused people and are diligent to deliver on our commitments. We are positive and reliable while we are humbly confident. Our people are genuine and dependable. Our team are networked which means we can draw on support. At the same time, we see partnership as critical to success.
Innovation
Our team are technically strong, determined and intelligent. They are creative, using a digital-first approach to be highly innovative. We are hungry for more and approach things with a sense of urgency. We are learners which means we can fail on the path to success.
What makes us different
Three key differences position Green Gravity for success in the rapidly changing energy storage market
Circular economy
The Green Gravity gravitational energy storage technology accesses disused mine shafts as the primary source of vertical height. The most important parts of our technology, the vertical height to enable gravity storage and the infrastructure required to access it, are sourced from reusing the surplus mining asset.
Breakthrough LCOS
Our market leading levelised cost is underpinned by long equipment life and the absence of capital spend on constructing a vertical building. Where a utility will have to continually replace chemical storage cells, a Green Gravity gravitational storage centre needs only be built once and it will match the life of the power generating asset.
Simplicity
Our technology is fundamentally simple. Lifting and moving heavy objects is a challenge overcome in the mining and manufacturing sectors every day. The technology for regenerative motors, allowing Green Gravity to generate electricity on demand is well proven and used extensively around the world.
